We here at The EscapeHatch are currently accepting submissions for our summer edition. If you are a creative writer and want to gain experience being published, please feel free to email us your pieces.

We are looking for fiction pieces that allows readers to escape reality for a little while. The goal of our magazine is to create a space where everyone’s tastes can be met, so we are looking for fiction of every kind:

​          All Subgenres of Fiction: 

​​

• Fantasy

• Science-Fiction

• Paranormal

• Horror, Suspense, Thriller

• Romance

• Historical

• Mystery

• And More....

We accept completed short stories, clips of longer pieces that are published or in the process of being published, and poems too, so long as they provide an escape for the reader.

RESTRICTIONS: 

 

       Short Stories: 1,000 words minimum, 5,000 words maximum 

 

       Clips of Longer Pieces/Teasers: 1,000 words minimum, 5,000 words maximum

 

       Poems: 10 words minimum, 500 words maximum 

​

       Reviews or Recommendations: 100 words minimum, 1,000 words maximum

Please send your submissions as a word document or PDF, double spaced, with both a title and who it is written by. If you want to remain anonymous, feel free to attach a pen name. 

 

At the end of the your submission, please describe your piece in a few words. Specifically include: what genre(s) your piece is, if there needs to be any trigger warnings for readers, and a basic plot description.

If you are reviewing or recommending a book, please provide: 

​

1. The title and author of the book

2. Your name or pen name

3. A brief description of the book or work that you are reviewing or recommending, basic back cover information. PLEASE DO NOT PROVIDE SPOILERS!

4. List what genre(s) it is considered

5. Where can this book can be found: Amazon, GoogleBooks, etc. If you can, please provide a link

6. Explanation of why you are recommending it

7. Favorite quote, or a line that got you hooked (optional)

We will be accepting submissions until April 30th for our summer edition. All submissions received after this deadline will be considered for our fall edition instead.
